Four years seems like a long time when you start college but in truth it flies by. It is that time of year again and UCP wants to congratulate all those young adults who are graduating from college. We wish them all the best in whatever path they choose. Congratulations to all you Uncool College Parents also -it is a tough road to travel -when your child started college they were closer to being a child and now undoubtedly they are a young adult. As a parent that is a hard transition to make as well. As you sit in the ceremony with your eyes dewy remember the little boy or girl they once were and look forward to the successful adult they will become.

For the 1st time Uncool College Parent: Congratulations! You made it through the college application and acceptance merry go round. Take a deep breath and congratulate your child on a job well done and then congratulate yourself!

Whether they got in early decision or it took right up until the last possible day to make a choice it has been hard on you, their parent, as well. Now that the decision has been made and school and housing deposits are in, just make sure that they finish their senior year in a good way. You may want to suggest, if they haven’t done it already, that your child join a group on Facebook for their college. That way they can meet and connect (at least online) with other kids who they will be with in the fall. Some kids even meet prospective friends in central places so that they can help ease their transition in the fall.
